NBC tops off an evening of specials with the second annual musical-variety hour originating at historic Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. Bob Hope is host and Raymond Burr narrator for this salute to American entertainment.

On Christmas Eve, an old miser named Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the spirit of his former partner, Jacob Marley. The deceased partner was in his lifetime as mean and miserly as Scrooge is now and he warns him to change his ways or face the consequences in the afterlife. Scrooge is visited by three spirits, representing his past, present and future, and, after seeing what they have to show him, must make a determination of how he will continue to live his life.

A study of the automobile and its pervasive effect on the history of North America. Focusing on the Ford dynasty, from the original Henry car through to Henry II, the film demonstrates how society has adapted to fit the needs of the automobile.
